The License looks ok as far Debian is concerned, however - other than not knowing if this is something you'd actually like (rather than discourage for some reason) - the problem I have at the moment is that the download is pre-compiled. In order for me to get this into Debian, I would need the source, so that it can be compiled for all the supported architectures, with some instructions if not obvious. The License seems to indicate that the source is in fact open, however INSTALL states that it is distributed compiled. One statement that looks like is in error is in section 4.1, page label 9 (actual page:10): The other type of parameters, which we call state variable parameters, are indeed system state variables that correspond to flexible variables in TLA. Their values may change over time. In the above example, we expect the value of State to change. If we were to make it a parameter rather than a local variable, it would be a state variable parameter. I expected to read for the highlighted phrase above: The other type of parameters, which we call state variable parameters, are indeed system state variables that correspond to flexible variables in TLA. Their values may change over time. In the above example, we expect the value of State to change. If we were to make it a rigid parameter rather than a local (state) variable, it's value would be instantiated with a constant, and so would no longer be a state variable parameter, rather a rigid one. The above change is a little too descriptive for the purposes of highlighting the problem - and sincere apologies if I'm mistaken and wasted anyone's time. This is a long standing objective of the AVISPA Project which we have been postponing for too long. Time is indeed ripe to deliver it, but some backends of the AVISPA Tool are currently undergoing a major revision and all our resources are taken by this effort. However (thanks to your proposal) we have agreed to make a deb distribution with the new release of the AVISPA Tool which we plan to deliver soon. If there's any help I can offer for the packaging, please let me know. I have no access to the source at the moment, but one thing to keep an eye on is - if the package contains a significant portion of non-architecture dependent code/data, as well as the expected significant portion of arch-dependent data, then the package should be built in two parts - as per the debian packaging guidelines - something like... avispa-common (arch-indep), and avispa (arch-dep). When it then is submitted to the debian package pool, the binary chunk will be fed to all the supported architectures for compilation. Furthermore, Lintian will be very helpful for you when packaging it, with great feedback. Meanwhile, here's my updated vim syntax file (when complete, I'll submit this to vim upstream)... http://src.autonomy.net.au/imagebin/3a869a7f2373b50ddbc3b28959f125be-hlpsl.vim Look forward to getting updates! :) Nima Depending on the code On Mon, Dec 21, 2009 at 3:34 AM, Alessandro Armando wrote: > Dear Nima, > > thank you very much for proposing and volunteering to set up a debian > distribution of the AVISPA Tool.
